reSonance 1+2 selected for LAAF 2025

reSonance 1+2 has been selected for exhibition at the Lodz Abstract Art Festival 2025: Sensitivity of Form, taking place April 24 - May 9, 2026 at Off Piotrkowska in Łódź, Poland. I'm pleased to share that reSonance 1+2 will be shown in the Time-Based Projects category at this year's LAAF, alongside work from 19 other selected artists from an international pool of 851 submissions. This will be an opportunity to present the work in Łódź, a city with deep historical roots in abstract art—home to pioneering figures like Władysław Strzemiński, Katarzyna Kobro, and Henryk Stażewski, whose avant-garde legacy continues to shape the city's cultural identity.

reSonance 1+2

The work uses technology as a mediator and source of connection between people. Based on Hartmut Rosa's book Resonance, it emphasizes how we mirror each other, let ourselves be influenced and enter into dialogues—here manifested through soundscapes and oscillations that are activated and intensified by virtue of our presence. Ultrasonic meters set up dichotomously control frequency and volume, respectively, which are affected in interacting intensity through the degree of human presence. The installation creates an environment where visitors become active participants, their movements and proximity directly shaping the sonic experience.

Exhibition Details

The work will be on view from April 24 - May 9, 2026 at Off Piotrkowska in Łódź. The exhibition opens on April 24, 2026, with artist talks scheduled throughout the exhibition period from April 25 - May 9. Exhibiting in Łódź presents a unique context for reSonance 1+2. The festival's theme "Sensitivity of Form" resonates with the work's exploration of presence, proximity, and the ways we respond to and transform each other through interaction. The interdisciplinary nature of LAAF—spanning visual art, performance, music, and experimental forms—provides an ideal setting for a work that exists at the intersection of sound, technology, and human connection.
